Fall Hike at Friends of Great Swamp – Join Us!

Saturday, November 15th | 10:00 AM | Friends of the Great Swamp, Harding Township

Let’s spend a crisp fall morning exploring one of New Jersey’s most peaceful wildlife refuges. Join fellow NJ SWEP members - new and returning (nonmembers welcomed!) - for a relaxed nature walk through the trails surrounding the Wildlife Observation Center at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. We’ll meet in the Parking Lot by the Wildlife Observation Center at 10:00 AM and head out together from there.

We’ll follow a just-under-2-mile route that winds through boardwalks, compacted stone dust trails, and natural woodland paths. The terrain is mostly flat with gentle grades - perfect for taking in the quiet beauty of the marshland and surrounding forest. This area is known for excellent birdwatching, so feel free to bring binoculars if you have them!

Expect great conversation, fresh air, and a peaceful reset in nature.

What to Bring:

• Comfortable walking shoes

• Water

• Binoculars (optional but recommended — lots of bird activity here!)

• Weather-friendly layers
